Na Fidléirí, founded and directed by Mary Taylor, has been called the nation’s finest, most unique Celtic fiddling ensemble for young fiddlers. Comprising 25 fiddlers between the ages of 10 and 18, Na Fidléirí performs repertoire from the Celtic tradition, specially arranged for them. Its members are taught the technique and style of Celtic fiddling, while simultaneously being grounded upon a classical technical foundation emphasizing the close relationship between music of the classical and (in their particular case) Celtic/folk tradition.
Na Fidléirí has performed throughout the southeast, including performances at the Swannanoa Gathering, the Savannah and Augusta Irish Festivals, Piccolo Spoleto, Charleston First Night and others. They have been featured on statewide television, and have released a critically acclaimed CD: From the New Country [Purchase Direct] [iTunes] [Amazon].
Na Fidléirí holds auditions every year, in the last week of August. For more information and to find out how you can join the ensemble, please contact us here.
