Lee Lingle

Lee Lingle is celebrating his 15th year with the Taylor Festival Choir. To date, Mr. Lingle has sung in every Taylor Festival Choir season since the group's inception in 2001. He has also sung with the College of Charleston Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers and Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus. He serves as section leader and soloist for Second Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Mr. Lingle works in the Special Education department of James Island Elementary School and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Charleston.

Where did you do your musical training?

I studied music at the College of Charleston, in the choirs of Dr. Robert Taylor.

When did you first start performing with the TFC?

I started singing with the TFC all the way back at the beginning in 2001.

What is your all-time favorite choral work?

Tough question!  So many wonderful pieces!  I have no all time favorite but two that come to mind currently is Barber’s Agnus Dei and Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem.

Where do you live now? And where do you call “home”?

Charleston is home.  I grew up here on James Island.

What is your favorite hobby outside of music?

I love to cook and am very much a weightlifting enthusiast.  The gym is my happy place.

Who is your favorite singer?

Freddy Mercury for popular music, I have always been a fan of Bryn Terfels voice for classical.

Who is your favorite actor?

Tom Hanks

Favorite movie or play?

Ghostbusters is my all time favorite movie.  I wore out the vhs tape of it I had. 

What is your favorite meal?

I am a fan of almost all foods!  I love to try new and exciting meals from other cultures!  BBQ is probably my favorite though.

Who is your favorite sports team?

Chudley Cannons Quidditch team

Do you have a favorite TFC or “singing with Rob” anecdote?

So many memories come to mind.  I have sung for Rob for many years since starting in his choir at the College of Charleston.  The most important thing that comes to mind is his commitment to create and foster a sense of family in all that we do musically.  Some of my closest friends I have met through music with Rob.
